Bill Price gave up life in a corporate boardroom for life among the vines. Born in Los Angeles, Bill was introduced to wine at an early age by his French-born father. He attended high school in Hawaii, where he learned to surf, before returning to California to study at Stanford University. He earned his law degree and following 10 years of practicing law, he worked for GE Capital. In 1992, Bill co-founded Texas Pacific Group (TPG), a private equity firm that later purchased the wine company Beringer, where Bill’s passion for wine blossomed. He bought the Durell Vineyard in 1998 and launched Three Sticks Wines in 2002. In 2007, Bill sold his shares of TPG and dove into the wine business full time. Bill, a father of three and an active philanthropist, lives with his family in Marin County, where he surfs at least 30 days a year.
California’s Clear Lake AVA features well draining, volcanic soils. This, combined with high elevation (2,250 ft.) and a longer growing season, allows Grenache to thrive. Our 2013 Head High Red is blended with 11% Lake County Grenache.
Maritime fog and Pacific breezes keep the Sonoma Coast uniquely cool. This climate produces some of the best Pinot Noir around: concentrated, earthy, and 100% Head High.
Cooler climates preserve a grape’s acidity, an essential ingredient to great rosé. Our 2014 Head High Rosé is produced with 100% Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir for a bright, refreshing finish.
